The Arizona "papers please" law gives cops way too much authority, which means leeway to abuse their power, which spells trouble for the little guy. Even if the cops arrest 100% of Mexican border-crossers, and they get convictions and lock them up, then what? They will be released to the feds, and likely cross again. Maybe Arizonans just want the law to scare Mexicans into not entering the state, but more likely they will just resort to false IDs and do it anyway since the incurably corrupt Mexican govt. makes Mexico no place to stay when the Land of Oz beckons nearby, so who can blame them? The answer lies with the U.S. finally accepting that Mexicans are here to stay, albeit at the lower rungs of the economic ladder, and accept Mexico as part of the U.S. in a phased manner that we control all aspects of, and work to dissolve its corrupt federal govt. in favor of several new state govts. and federal reps sent to Washington so that it can finally be developed as a U.S. sector to create new jobs for us all, sans papers please laws.
