Sorry, but the European situation is far different from the U.S. because so many immigrants are Muslims, who bring Islam and its horrible Sharia along with its intolerant supremacist mindset with them, making it impossible for them to assimilate, instead setting up little "stans" that simmer with future problems. Mexicans aren't Muslim, and while many are more or less Catholic, most seem to accept the wisdom of church-state separation, and most are decent hard-working people, albeit at the lower economic rungs, so they're quite assimilable. The problem is on the U.S. side, with a 160-year legacy of white supremacy and Anglophile b.s. tracing back to Henry VIII. When will both major parties wake up and realize that the U.S.-Mexico border is unsealable, and all "papers please" laws will do is create an expensive grudge-making merry-go-round, and work to dissolve the real problem, the ever-corrupt Mexican govt. that creates the conditions causing Mexicans to cross the border for a better shake despite all obstacles? To dissolve the Mexican govt. we can do it by military force, but there's no need if the Mexican people are offered full U.S. citizenship in exchange for giving their territory to the U.S. as 10+ new states, allowing 2-way migration and mixing of resources and pop., expanding the border to the oceans where effective control is finally possible, and turning Old Mexico into several vibrant new economic zones, creating millions of new jobs for all 414 million Americans, who will have full freedom of movement sans passports.
