Both major parties are clueless when it comes to the 2K-mi. U.S.-Mexico border, because it is unsealable, even with a hi-tech fence. Real sealing would require a permanent military occupation of 10-100 soldiers per mi., times 3 for 3 shifts a day, 24/7/365, all requiring a permanent national military draft. And after several years of festering, the incurably corrupt Mexican govt. will likely be overthrown by a Mexican Castro who will invite our worst enemies into Mexico to set up shop, maybe with nuclear bases, and eventually begin sending armed guerrillas to punch holes in the Great Wall in order to pillage, not to chase the Great American Dream with honest work.

There's plenty of time to avoid this worst-case scenario if we recognize that the corrupt Mexican govt. is driving the entire problem, and that it must go, it really must go. We can do it militarily but it will be far better if we do it with the approval of the majority of the Mexican people in exchange for full citizenship and incorporation of Mexico as several new U.S. states, a New Calif., New Texas, New Fla., etc., which can lance the festering boil of the border and create several vibrant new economic zones creating millions of jobs for all 414 million Americans.
