The 2K-mi. U.S.-Mexico border has always been and will always be unsealable without bankrupting the U.S., so any fantasy that it's the solution is misguided and counterproductive. It might still be unpopular, but the only practicable solution is to expand the border to the oceans where it can finally be controlled and incorporate Mexico as 10+ new U.S. states. It can be done in just years with a bipartisan effort by Congress combined with the consent of the Mexican people, who see the advantages including the creation of several vibrant new economic zones attracting southward migration combined with Marshall Plan type aid to build up the infrastructure.
