What's the point in arresting, jailing, and returning Mexican border-crossers, when they will just recross later, probably after obtaining better fake IDs? The 2K-mi. U.S.-Mexico border is unsealable, do the math, will it take 10 or 100 soldiers per mile, multiplied for 3 shifts a day and logistics and support personnel, requiring a national draft? The real problem is not the border, but what's on the Mexican side, the incurably corrupt Mexican govt. that rides the rich on the backs of the poor and drives them to cross regardless of all obstacles placed in their way seeking a fairer shake. So why not give them one, starting by dissolving that govt. and granting them all full citizenship in return for forming several new U.S. states, expanding the border to the oceans where it can finally be controlled?
