"As we have long said, securing the border between Mexico and the U.S. is an important precursor to immigration reform."

So how long has your brain been stuck on stupid? :)

The 2K-mi. US-Mexico border can NEVER be "secured", and the recent decrease in border-crossers is because they don't want to cross, not because they can be stopped.

Yes, economic conditions in horrible backwards corrupt Mexico have improved a bit, since they're making more billions than ever off drug sales in the U.S. :) Meanwhile Mexico itself has a per capita income one fourth that in the U.S., and the land is undeveloped and a gigantic waste of the New World, a geopolitical eyesore.

Why does the editor of the Denver Post insist on being stuck on stupid? Because the illusion that Mexico is a separate country still dominates, when for 200 years it's been nothing but a victim of de facto apartheid of brown-skinned peoples, and has always been a non-starter that's totally dependent on the U.S., with an elitist fatcat-controlled govt. that's now being taken over by drug cartels. It's a miracle it wasn't taken over by a Communist Castro type long ago that hosted Soviet, Russian, or Cuban missiles along the border while sending in guerrillas nightly. It's not far from that now.

In short, it's a ticking time bomb, and it's all the fault of the U.S., which must eventually face up to the fact that there's only one permanent solution, namely the Megamerge Dissolution Solution of a bipartisan Congress inviting the people of Mexico to dissolve their failed country and govt. and reorganize as several new U.S. territories and apply for statehood, allowing a phased approach to putting all 400 million of us on the same team. The 2K-mi. land border will dissolve and be replaced by a new seabound border on the Mexican coasts which can finally be controlled to stop immigration from other continents, while Mexico's territory can finally developed as a U.S. sector with free mass bidirectional movement of people and capital. Imagine a New California and New Florida along Mexico's huge undeveloped coasts, with a 60-star U.S. flag flying over the new state capitals and new military and naval bases. It can all be accomplished legally in a few years, and transitioned into completeness in a single generation.

Who or what is stopping it now? Only diehard racists, who won't even take their heads out of the sand long enough to see that once Mexico's territory is part of the U.S., their unemployed college-educated children will be free to flock down there and build whole new English-speaking cities and enjoy the huge native labor pool to do it, for a win-win solution.

Unstick your brain and learn more about the ONLY SOLUTION TO THE US-MEXICO PROBLEM:
