[[ It is important that immigrants have the opportunity for legalization in the United States and we must fully support immigration reform in this direction. At the same time, politicians would do well to remember the diversity of immigrants and their dreams. We must work toward fair enforcement of worker protections for those already here, regardless of their immigration status. Finally, the most basic (and long-term) solution for many immigrants would be transnational development so that those who so desire are able to stay in their home countries.]]
Duh, what about national development? The US-Mexico border has no reason to exist, and should go poof after the Mexican people accept annexation and reorganize as 10 new states, making the states on the old border into gateway states, complete with welcome stations and mass bidirectional transit. All the laws of the U.S. should be extended to the new states, allowing the freedom solution to develop them to the same level as the other 50, not via NAFTA et al., but through mass southward migration of "gringos" who will bring their knowhow and capital with them to build whole new cities.
So why is Salon still playing ostrich on this momentous issue, and acting as a partisan arm to push Democratic Stuck on Stupid legislation through? Is it so lame it can't see past partisan politics to the need to correct a mistake of history?
I am the lone voice crying in the wilderness to proclaim the MEGAMERGE DISSOLUTION SOLUTION, the permanent win-win happy ending for all 400+ million Americans. Visit my Megamerge Dissolution Solution Blog to learn the details and jump on my train, because the future belongs to it.
